Beloved ‘Happy Days’ Cast Members Reunite After 50 Years at Steel City Con

In a heartwarming occasion for fans of classic television, Ron Howard and Henry Winkler, stars of the iconic sitcom “Happy Days,” shared a stage once again with their former co-stars Anson Williams and Don Most. The cherished quartet reunited for the first time in five decades at Steel City Con in Pittsburgh on Saturday, delighting attendees of the pop culture convention.

Emotional Reunion for ‘Happy Days’ Stars

The celebrated actors participated in a panel discussion, engaging with an audience of enthusiastic admirers of the popular show.

“I’m quite moved to be here,” expressed Winkler, 79, in footage captured from the event. “This marks the inaugural occasion in 50 years that we have appeared together in this manner.”

Humor and Camaraderie On Stage

Following enthusiastic applause from the crowd, Howard, 71, playfully quipped, “It feels more like 50 minutes.”

The filmmaker continued, “We are enjoying each other’s company immensely, and this event serves as a wonderful reason for us to reunite, so we extend our gratitude. It has been a truly fantastic convention.”

Reflecting on the Legacy of ‘Happy Days’

In “Happy Days,” Howard portrayed Richie Cunningham, while Winkler embodied the role of Richie’s friend, Fonzie.

Williams, 75, and Most, 71, played Richie’s other close friends, Potsie and Ralph, respectively.

During the panel, Winkler paid tribute to the show’s creator, stating, “Firstly, Garry Marshall was unequivocally a brilliant showrunner, a remarkable writer. They assembled an exceptional cast — some of whom have sadly passed — but we connected well, remained united, and dedicated ourselves to our work.”

The Ensemble Cast and Enduring Bonds

Howard added, “I believe that was a crucial element. The program truly evolved into an ensemble piece. The concept that we were akin to a family, or perhaps more accurately, a cohesive unit, a community. Furthermore, I think for us, it represented a kind of coming-of-age narrative. We were essentially growing up together throughout this journey.”

Remembering Late ‘Happy Days’ Actors

Several actors from “Happy Days” are no longer with us, including Tom Bosley (Howard’s father), Erin Moran (Joanie Cunningham), Pat Morita (Arnold), and Al Molinaro (Al Delvecchio). The series also featured Marion Ross, Scott Baio, Lynda Goodfriend, Cathy Silvers, Ted McGinley, and Linda Purl.

Happy Days” first premiered on ABC on January 15, 1974. The series enjoyed an 11-season run, comprising 255 half-hour episodes, before its conclusion on July 19, 1984.

Prior to Steel City Con, Winkler conveyed in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette his profound appreciation for “Happy Days.”

“I cherished my involvement in that program. The impact it has had on my life is immeasurable. The warmth and affection I consistently encounter from people around the world because of that character,” the actor shared.
