Veterinary Attention Required for Two Horses After Grand National

Following the 2025 Randox Grand National at Aintree, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) issued a statement confirming that Broadway Boy and Celebre D’Allen necessitated veterinary evaluation. Both horses underwent initial assessments on the racecourse after the event concluded, leading to a brief delay in proceedings.

Broadway Boy Fall

Broadway Boy, who started the race with odds of 100/1, maintained a prominent position under jockey Tom Bellamy. However, the horse experienced a significant fall at the 25th fence. Aintree’s veterinary personnel promptly attended to both the injured horse and jockey.

Immediate on-track care was administered to Broadway Boy before he was transported in a horse ambulance for further examination by the veterinary team. The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained gelding has since returned to his stable, where his condition continues to be monitored.

BHA Statement on Horse Welfare

The BHA statement detailed the incident: “Both horses received immediate and comprehensive treatment from veterinary professionals, utilizing the first-class facilities and on-site teams. This level of care and observation will extend throughout the evening.”

Celebre D’Allen Incident

Celebre D’Allen, another outsider in the betting at 125/1, raced prominently towards the front of the field with jockey Micheal Nolan. However, he was pulled up after jumping the final obstacle.

Subsequently, the 13-year-old collapsed on the course and received immediate veterinary attention. Similar to Broadway Boy, Celebre D’Allen was moved into a horse ambulance and transported back to his stable for further evaluations.

Stewards Inquiry for Jockey Micheal Nolan

Jockey Micheal Nolan is scheduled to face a stewards inquiry concerning his ride in the Grand National. This Grand National ride marked a significant occasion in Nolan’s career, who has achieved 37 wins from 254 rides this season.

Tom Bellamy Injury Update

Following his fall, Broadway Boy’s jockey, Tom Bellamy, was taken to Aintree University Hospital for further medical assessments. All other jockeys returned to the weighing room, allowing racing to resume shortly after.
