The extensive search operation for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, the aircraft that disappeared in 2014, has been temporarily suspended due to unfavorable weather conditions, according to Malaysia’s Transport Minister Anthony Loke. In 2018, Ocean Infinity, a maritime exploration company with bases in both the UK and the US, resumed the daunting search without success.
“No Find, No Fee” Search Halted
Last month, Ocean Infinity initiated a renewed search endeavor under the same “no find, no fee” terms, meaning they only receive payment if the aircraft is located. Despite this commitment, the operation has now been put on hold due to the onset of unsuitable weather patterns in the search area.
Minister Loke informed AFP, “They have paused the operation for now, and are scheduled to recommence the search towards the end of this year. The current season is not conducive for search activities.”

The ongoing search for the aircraft wreckage remains uncertain, Minister Loke acknowledged. There is no guarantee that the missing plane will ultimately be found, despite the persistent efforts and advanced technology employed. A 2018 report investigating the incident revealed lapses in air traffic control procedures and confirmed that the flight’s trajectory had been manually altered. This extensive 495-page document, while detailed, stopped short of offering a definitive explanation for the aircraft’s disappearance. Importantly, the report did not eliminate the possibility of unauthorized intervention in the plane’s flight path.
