Nintendo Switch 2 to Feature GameShare Social Tool
Gamers anticipating the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 console on June 5, 2025, will gain access to GameShare, a new social feature unveiled during today’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct broadcast. This innovative tool enables owners to grant temporary access to select titles for up to three additional systems concurrently, facilitating shared multiplayer gameplay experiences. Notably, while first-generation Switch games can be shared across Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, and Switch Lite consoles, titles exclusive to the new handheld system will not be shareable with older generations.

The newly introduced GameChat functionality empowers users to engage in both voice and video calls, utilizing the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Camera. Available without charge on all Switch 2 consoles until March 2026, continued use of GameChat after the complimentary period will require a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
GameShare Distinct from Virtual Game Card System
It is important to distinguish GameShare from the recently announced Virtual Game Card system. These are separate features; while GameShare allows temporary simultaneous access, the Virtual Game Card system facilitates lending and borrowing virtual game copies among friends or members of a Nintendo Switch Online Family.
