Nintendo Switch 2 to Feature GameShare Social Tool

Gamers anticipating the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 console on June 5, 2025, will gain access to GameShare, a new social feature unveiled during today’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct broadcast. This innovative tool enables owners to grant temporary access to select titles for up to three additional systems concurrently, facilitating shared multiplayer gameplay experiences. Notably, while first-generation Switch games can be shared across Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, and Switch Lite consoles, titles exclusive to the new handheld system will not be shareable with older generations.

GameShare Compatibility: Launch Titles

During the presentation, Nintendo affirmed GameShare compatibility for the following initial games:

According to an official statement, GameShare on Nintendo Switch 2 systems can be combined with the new GameChat feature to enhance online interactions. This integration allows players to communicate via chat while participating in the same game, fostering a more connected multiplayer environment.

Introducing GameChat on Nintendo Switch 2

The newly introduced GameChat functionality empowers users to engage in both voice and video calls, utilizing the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Camera. Available without charge on all Switch 2 consoles until March 2026, continued use of GameChat after the complimentary period will require a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

GameShare Distinct from Virtual Game Card System
