Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's Adult Daughters Still Take Baths Together

Importance Score: 30 / 100 🔵

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughters share a strong familial bond, yet even Rumer Willis acknowledges that some of their family customs diverge from the norm.

During a recent guest appearance on the “What in the Winkler?!” podcast, Rumer, 36, engaged in a conversation about diverse methods of sleep training. She disclosed her personal preference for co-sleeping with her daughter, Louetta “Lou.”

The discussion shifted to her own childhood experiences, revealing that Rumer and her sisters, Scout and Tallulah Willis, were consistently welcomed into their mother Moore’s bed as children.

“Honestly, I hope Lou will still want to sleep in bed with me when she’s my current age,” Rumer expressed to podcast host Zoe Winkler in the episode aired on Tuesday, April 1.

Unconventional Family Norms

Rumer admitted, “I still occasionally sleep in the same bed as my mom, and I perceive it as perfectly normal.”

The actress, known for My Divorce Party, and who became a first-time mother in April 2023 with her former partner Derek Richard Thomas, further revealed that shared sleeping arrangements are not the only childhood practice she maintains.

“My sisters and I still regularly take baths together,” Rumer shared, referencing her siblings, aged 33 and 31 respectively. “That’s simply the environment in which I was raised.”

Defending Parental Choices

Rumer promptly defended her mother, 62, and father’s lenient household, stating, “Some individuals might consider it unconventional or strange, but I do not.”

Bruce, 69, and Moore were married for 13 years before their separation in 2000. Throughout their marriage, they had three daughters, for whom they have effectively co-parented over the past decades.

“I believe the most significant aspect I appreciate is that even following their divorce, they established a solid foundation of prioritizing my sisters and me. Consequently, I never felt obligated to choose sides, nor did they engage in any form of conflict directed at each other,” Rumer recounted about her parents’ co-parenting approach during a February appearance on Loose Women. “We were, and continue to be, very much a unified family, regardless of circumstances.”

Co-Parenting Influences

She elaborated that the groundwork laid by her parents aided her in navigating her own separation from Thomas in August 2024, and in understanding how to effectively co-parent.

“I feel profoundly grateful for the example they provided, which has not only equipped me with a robust foundation for my own family life but is also guiding me as I navigate co-parenting,” Rumer added.

When Bruce remarried Emma Heming Willis in 2009, his relationship with Moore and their daughters remained robust. Heming Willis, 46, who has daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 10, with her spouse, has also become integrated into their extended family.

Family Unity Amidst Health Challenges

The family circle has strengthened further since Bruce’s diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, a communication disorder, in 2022. This condition, for which there is currently no known cure, compromises communication abilities and affects cognitive functions.

“He is doing well,” Rumer commented on her father’s health in February during her visit to the British talk show.

She emphasized the unshakeable solidarity within the Willis family, irrespective of challenges they encounter. “Because we are all exceptionally close, what is truly remarkable is how we collectively support each other,” Rumer effused. “[It’s] incredibly heartwarming, as we genuinely function as a cohesive unit.”
