The definitive list of 34 competitors for this year’s Grand National at Aintree has been officially announced, with reigning champion I Am Maximus set to defend his title following his impressive triumph last year. Renowned trainer Willie Mullins presents a formidable challenge, with stablemates Iroko and Meetingofthewaters emerging as prominent contenders in the betting market for this prestigious horse race.

Recent alterations have significantly reshaped the landscape of the upcoming Grand National, most notably the absence of Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup victor Inothewayurthinkin, altering pre-race predictions. Consequently, several distinguished runners are now vying for the position of bookmakers’ favourite, including Gavin Cromwell’s Stumptown and Vanillier, both attracting considerable attention from punters.

Following their success in the previous year’s event, jockey Paul Townend will once again partner with I Am Maximus. Minella Indo, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, secured third place in the prior race, and this accomplished duo will reunite on Saturday, aiming to reverse the previous outcome and challenge for top honours.

Despite his esteemed career, the British trainer is yet to achieve victory in the Grand National, although he has previously highlighted Hyland’s potential, with Chantry House (100/1) representing his only other participant.
