Deltarune Chapters 1-4 Launching on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC in June
Alongside the Hollow Knight: Silksong release date revelation, the recent Nintendo Direct presentation also featured another highly anticipated announcement. After years of anticipation, Toby Fox, the developer behind Deltarune, disclosed that Deltarune Chapters 1-4 will be available on June 5th. This comprehensive package will debut as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. In addition, Chapters 3 and 4 will also be released for PC on the same date, much to the delight of fans.
A Long Awaited Release
Indeed, the wait has been considerable. The inaugural chapter of Deltarune, the successor to Undertale, was initially launched on PC in 2018 and offered as a free download. Chapter two followed suit in 2021, also provided at no cost. However, in a nod to the shareware model, Fox indicated that subsequent chapters would carry a price tag, requiring players to invest financially for the complete Deltarune narrative experience. This proposition was largely considered reasonable by the gaming community.

Since then, updates have been infrequent. The year 2022 passed without further news, and both 2023 and 2024 brought declarations of progress but lacked concrete developments. 2025 continued this pattern, offering further explanations for the prolonged development cycle – essentially attributing it to the inherent complexities of game creation. Finally, today’s Nintendo Direct and subsequent confirmation from Fox have assured fans that the release is indeed on the horizon.

“Deltarune Chapters 1-4 will be released on June 5th as a launch title for Nintendo Switch 2!” Fox announced via Bluesky. “It is also scheduled to arrive on Steam, Switch, PS4, and PS5 on the same day!” This widespread release is expected to reach a broad audience eager to experience the next installment in the Deltarune saga.

In a subsequent newsletter distributed through Fangamer, Fox revealed that Deltarune will be priced at $25, encompassing all currently released chapters of the game. While a fifth chapter is currently under development—Fox initially intended to bundle chapters 3, 4, and 5 together but acknowledged the extended delay this would entail—indications suggest potential plans for further content beyond the fifth chapter.
“This $24.99 to me represents the exact price of four chapters!” Fox stated. “However, it is my anticipation that as we finalize additional chapters, you will perceive this game as an exceptional value. Just wait, I intend to demonstrate this to you…!”
