Gabriel Macht Embraces Secluded Lifestyle Away From Spotlight

Gabriel Macht, best known for his role in the hit series “Suits,” has revealed his preference for a private life, expressing his appreciation for the “anonymity” afforded by living in an undisclosed location. The 53-year-old former “Suits” actor shared that relocating away from public attention with his family has been a positive change.

Macht addressed the response to his move, stating to People, “I didn’t want it to be a real big reaction. I wanted it to be boring.” He emphasized his desire for a low-profile existence away from the public eye.

The performer, recognized for portraying the powerful New York City lawyer Harvey Specter in the popular legal drama, left the United States with his spouse, Australian actress Jacinda Barrett, and their two children, Satine, 17, and Luca, 10.

Despite widespread interest from fans, friends, and the media, they opted to keep their new residence private.

Balancing Public and Private Life

“I am absolutely in love with my anonymity,” Macht explained. “When I’m working and I’m in character, and someone wants to engage, I try my best to give them a moment. But when I’m not working, I prefer not to be recognized.”

He further elaborated on his desire for privacy: “I aspire to be invisible and all that entails. My children are a primary consideration, and I want to prevent any discomfort for them.”

Macht initially spoke about his choice to leave the US in January, mentioning his preference to maintain discretion about his personal movements.

“I relocated and we are exploring the globe,” he stated previously, adding, “I refrain from disclosing my place of residence because I prefer to keep that information private.”

Family Focus and Career Break

Following the conclusion of the USA Network series in 2019, Macht took an extended hiatus from acting to prioritize his family.

“Just before the pandemic, we intended to remove the children from conventional schooling and educate them at home,” Macht recounted, referencing the period after his nine seasons on “Suits” from 2011 to 2019.

“However, subsequent events confined us to Manhattan, which proved unsatisfactory for our family.”

Macht and his family determined it was the right moment to depart from New York City.

“We made the decision to explore internationally, and so we departed,” he continued. “I was raised in Los Angeles and resided in New York for numerous years, dividing my life equally between the East and West Coasts.”

Possibility of “Suits LA” Return

Despite his focus on family and privacy, Macht admitted he would consider participating in the “Suits” universe again in the new spinoff, “Suits LA.”

“I initially had minimal interest in resuming acting endeavors presently, as I had dedicated considerable time to it, and this period was intended for nurturing my children and pursuing personal creative ventures,” he mentioned, alluding to his whiskey business.

However, after deliberation, reprising his role as Harvey Specter “made sense” for his family. Macht indicated he would also have the opportunity to “pass the baton” to Stephen Amell and the new cast in Los Angeles.
