Urgent Search Underway for British Man Missing from Benidorm After Stag Party
Authorities in Spain have launched a manhunt for a British man who has gone missing following a stag do in Benidorm. Jason Taylor, 36, an engineer from Wales, was last seen at Alicante-Elche Airport and failed to board his scheduled flight back to Birmingham, prompting a widespread search effort.
Concerns Grow as Search for Jason Taylor Enters Fourth Day
Jason Taylor was due to return to the UK from Alicante-Elche Airport on Saturday morning but did not board his flight, causing significant worry amongst his friends and relatives. According to his wife, Maria Taylor, he was last sighted in the boarding queue before inexplicably leaving the terminal building in the direction of Torrellano.
Spanish police have reviewed CCTV footage confirming that Mr. Taylor exited the airport after encountering difficulties with his boarding pass. Notably, he left without his mobile phone.
Family members have travelled to Spain to assist local authorities in the ongoing search operation, which enters its fourth day.
Uncertainty Surrounds Disappearance
Maria Taylor expressed her confusion regarding her husband’s departure from the airport, stating she has ‘no idea’ why he left. She speculated that he might have stepped outside to ‘clear his head’ and subsequently become disoriented and lost.
Details Emerge from Friends and Witnesses
Gaz Edmunds, a friend of Jason Taylor, shared on social media that the 36-year-old became separated from his group shortly after arriving at Alicante-Elche Airport around 8:30 am on Saturday.
The group had approximately 90 minutes to reach their departure gate for their 10:30 am flight to Birmingham. However, Jason had misplaced his phone and needed a boarding pass from another member of the group who had already proceeded through security.
‘We made several attempts to scan his boarding pass, but it was repeatedly rejected, displaying an error message to contact the airline,’ Mr. Edmunds explained.
He added that Jason went to seek assistance while another friend remained behind. This was the last time they had contact with him. Mr. Edmunds emphasized that Jason was not unwell, intoxicated, or incapacitated at the time.
CCTV Confirms Airport Departure
Airport security cameras recorded Jason Taylor leaving Alicante-Elche Airport on foot at approximately 9:00 am on Saturday morning.
He was described as wearing dark shorts, a white collared t-shirt, white trainers, and carrying a black wheeled suitcase.
Community Support and International Alert
Mrs. Taylor noted that ‘numerous locals’ have volunteered to aid in the search efforts, which are now in their fourth day. Furthermore, additional individuals are reported to have returned to Spain to provide further assistance in the manhunt.
Authorities in the UK have referred the case to Interpol, which has issued an alert on Mr. Taylor’s passport to monitor any international movements.
YouTuber Azzie the Gamer, Mr. Taylor’s brother-in-law, posted a public appeal on Monday urging people to ‘help find my brother in law’. The online community responded with messages of concern and support.
‘This is one of those situations you never expect to find yourself in. Very sad news, I hope he is found urgently,’ one commenter wrote.
‘Hope he’s found soon, can’t imagine what’s happened,’ another added.
Azzie confirmed that Spanish authorities are aware of the situation and are on ‘high alert’.
Police Issue Statement
Dyfed-Powys Police, Mr. Taylor’s local force in the UK, have also released a statement regarding his disappearance.
The statement confirmed: ‘Jason was scheduled to fly home from a holiday in Spain on Saturday morning, 29th March 2025.’
‘Following a problem with his boarding pass, Jason began to queue for assistance. However, he subsequently left Alicante Airport on foot at approximately 9am without speaking to anyone.’
‘Jason is described as a white male, approximately five feet ten inches tall, with brown hair on the sides of his head and bald on top.’
