The View Panel Scolds Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Over Governor Morrisey Remarks

The View hosts addressed controversial comments made by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey during a recent episode. The daytime talk show focused on Kennedy’s suggestions that Governor Morrisey should go on a diet and participate in public weigh-ins during a March visit to the state, intended to promote health initiatives.

The hosts of The View aired footage of Kennedy’s statements, delivered at an event focused on promoting health initiatives in West Virginia. Kennedy’s comments included telling Governor Morrisey, “You look like you ate Governor Morrisey,” and further asserting, “I’m going to put him on a really rigorous regimen, and we’re going to put him on a carnivore diet.” He additionally proposed that Governor Morrisey participate in “public weigh-ins” on a monthly basis.

Panel Reacts with Disapproval

The panel on The View expressed their strong disapproval of Kennedy’s statements. Joy Behar criticized Kennedy, referencing his past struggles with heroin addiction and a reported brain worm infection.

Behar suggested Kennedy “should be careful, because people will start making fun of him pretty soon, if they haven’t already.” Alyssa Farah Griffin responded by pointing out Kennedy’s successful recovery from addiction.

Griffin described Kennedy’s comments as “so mean and uncomfortable,” and speculated that audience members in West Virginia were also likely critical, emphasizing Governor Morrisey’s recent election and popularity.

Concerns Over West Virginia Healthcare

Sunny Hostin questioned the appropriateness of Kennedy’s weight-focused remarks in West Virginia, a state that “consistently ranks No. 49 in terms of healthcare quality in our country.”

Hostin highlighted the state’s “worst health outcomes” and inquired why Kennedy, in his role as a public figure concerned with health, did not address these more pressing healthcare issues.

“Unacceptable Behavior”

Sara Haines labeled Kennedy a “bully” and characterized his public comments towards the governor as “what nightmares are made of.”

Haines stated, “It is really just awful behavior,” expressing personal dismay at the nature of the interaction.

The View is broadcast weekdays at 11 a.m. Eastern Time/10 a.m. Central Time on ABC.
