easyJet Introduces Novelty Ice Cream Flavors to Mark London Southend Base Launch

easyJet has launched a range of unconventional ice cream flavors, including a striking snail and garlic combination, to commemorate its new base at London Southend Airport. This unique frozen treat, inspired by escargot, even features crunchy sugar pieces mimicking a shell, nodding to classic Parisian bistro cuisine. The escargot ice cream is part of a collection of five adventurous flavors, each designed to reflect destinations now accessible from the airline’s latest hub.

Adventurous Ice Cream Flavors Inspired by Destinations

  • Escargot & Garlic: A daring blend inspired by Parisian bistros, complete with sugar shell pieces.
  • Spicy Tagine: An exotic mix with apricots and Moroccan spices, evoking the atmosphere of Moroccan souks.
  • Cacio e Pepe: A savory option featuring lemon zest, parmesan, and cracked black pepper, reminiscent of Pisa.
  • Sangria & Chocolate: A fruity and rich combination blending sangria and chocolate notes, inspired by Spanish destinations like Alicante, Malaga, and Tenerife.
  • Pastel de Nata: A smooth and indulgent custard tart flavored ice cream, paying homage to Portugal’s iconic pastry.

Limited Edition Treats for Southend Passengers

Travelers departing from London Southend Airport will have the opportunity to sample these limited-edition ice cream creations, offering a literal “taste of their next trip,” according to easyJet holidays CEO Garry Wilson.

Celebrating New London Southend Base and Expansion

Garry Wilson, easyJet holidays CEO, commented: “Southend is well-known for ice-cream, and we thought there was no better approach to celebrate our newest airport base than with something that represents the holiday spirit for many. We aim to provide customers with a preview of their upcoming travels.”

“With flights and package holidays now available to 20 destinations from London Southend, this expansion will enable us to serve a larger customer base, offering both value and increased choice. It also bolsters crucial connectivity and employment opportunities within the UK, as we prepare for our busiest summer season yet.”

London Southend Base Creates Jobs and Boosts Connectivity

The newly established base at London Southend Airport is now operating with three easyJet A320neo aircraft. This development supports approximately 1,200 jobs, including 140 direct positions for pilots and cabin crew, contributing significantly to the local economy.

Increased Flight Capacity and Summer Growth

easyJet is now operating 122 weekly flights across 20 routes from Southend to various leisure destinations throughout Europe and North Africa. This represents a substantial 133 percent increase in flight frequency compared to the previous summer season, demonstrating significant growth at the airport.

The expanded base at London Southend provides over 330,000 seats for holidaymakers planning their summer getaways, offering a wide range of travel options.

easyJet’s Continued UK Expansion

London Southend marks easyJet’s 10th UK base, following the opening of Birmingham International Airport last year. This expansion is a direct response to growing consumer demand for both flights and comprehensive holiday packages.

easyJet anticipates its largest summer season to date. Seven additional aircraft are being added to easyJet’s UK fleet across its bases in Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, and London Southend.

This fleet expansion aims to offer half a million additional seats across the airline’s extensive network throughout Europe and North Africa this summer, providing more travel opportunities for passengers.
