There’s a substantial number of individuals whose asylum applications have not only been processed, but even when they are, repatriation to their country of origin is not always possible. We are incurring costs to house them in comfortable living conditions for extended periods.”
The Minister elaborated with some hesitation, “No, we endeavor to return every person. Each country must implement measures deemed necessary within its own jurisdiction. However, the common ground, which the Summit will address today, concerns the criminal networks involved in people smuggling, their identities, and strategies to combat them.”
