He wrote, “When I experienced a mental health episode approximately 18 months prior, sauna use transitioned from a meditative practice to a therapeutic necessity. It genuinely served as my remedy, and I partially attribute my recovery to hot and cold therapy. However, it is crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before adopting such practices.”

The Benefits of Sauna Use

Fogle further explained, “The act of sweating provides a sense of release from anxieties, irritations, worries, and fears. Post-sauna, I feel invigorated, more content, and tranquil. My sleep quality improves, and my thoughts become clearer. I adhere to a purist approach to sauna bathing, preferring silence for a meditative experience, allowing my mind to quiet and declutter.”

He added that regular sauna sessions are part of his daily routine when at home, stating, “I have discovered substantial healing, solace, and contentment within the sauna. In Nordic cultures, saunas are often referred to as ‘the poor man’s pharmacy,’ truly embodying nature’s remedy.”

Fogle’s reflections come after acknowledging his failure to heed early warning indicators preceding his mental breakdown.
