The commanding victory positions the Serbian tennis icon one match away from achieving another significant milestone, with Czech teenager Jakub Mensik now the only obstacle.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion required a mere 69 minutes to dispatch his Bulgarian opponent, achieving a decisive 6-2, 6-3 win. Djokovic, age 37, is on the cusp of clinching his 100th career title – and a record-extending seventh at the Miami Masters – marking his first title win since recently collaborating with Andy Murray as part of his coaching team.
Despite conceding his initial service game, Djokovic swiftly gained momentum in the first set, concluding it in just 30 minutes while committing a minimal two unforced errors. He maintained control throughout the second set, notably missing only six first serves during the entire match, thereby confirming his place in his eighth Miami final and his first final appearance since Shanghai in October.
Djokovic’s Post-Match Reflection
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Djokovic commented on his performance, stating, “It feels fantastic. I surpassed my first-serve percentage from the previous match, which significantly simplifies things on the court.”
He further added, “Conditions were challenging today, with inconsistent and swirling winds, but I have progressed through this tournament without dropping a set and am feeling as strong as I have since the Olympics last year.”

Mensik’s Upset Victory
Mensik demonstrated exceptional form by firing 25 aces to overcome third seed Taylor Fritz in a hard-fought encounter. The young Czech player secured a tight victory with a scoreline of 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, in a match lasting almost two and a half hours.
Fritz managed the sole break of serve in the match at the commencement of the second set, but errors in the tie-breaks allowed 19-year-old Mensik to secure his first ATP Masters 1000 final, against a player he has admired since childhood.

Expressing his anticipation about facing Djokovic, Mensik remarked, “It feels unbelievable. It was a dream to have played against him in Shanghai previously. Now, it’s a different scenario.”
“I am a more developed player now, and I intend to relish the experience. It promises to be truly thrilling. We shall see what unfolds on Sunday.”
