Urban Explorer Stumbles Upon Cash Stash in Abandoned Bank Vault

An urban explorer recently expressed astonishment after making a surprising discovery while venturing through a former bank building. Known online as The Bearded Explorer (real name Colin Smith), he documented his latest exploration of the abandoned premises, which he accessed with prior authorization.

Exploring the Derelict Bank

In a caption shared with his 91,000 TikTok followers, the explorer explained, “The property was sold to developers some years ago, yet redevelopment plans never materialized.” Hinting at the unexpected nature of his find, he added, “It contained some exceptionally interesting items that were left behind! One can only assume that the key was misplaced, and no further effort was made to locate it. Absolutely unbelievable!”

Upon entering the three-story structure, The Bearded Explorer mentioned being informed about a remaining vault inside, which piqued his particular interest. He observed the former reception area, noting the minimal furnishings, primarily a blue carpet.

Vault Door Discovery

Venturing deeper within, the explorer pointed out the former locations of ATM machines, identifiable by wall indentations and heavy chains on the floor, presumably installed as security measures against damage or theft. Positioned to the left of this area was the bank vault.

Expressing amazement, he exclaimed, “Goodness, look at that door! Note the sheer thickness. It’s incredible and utterly solid.” However, he then noticed an adjacent doorway showing evidence of forced entry. A third, dimly lit room, secured with a padlock, revealed paperwork scattered across the floor and a cabinet with its doors ajar.

Unbelievable Money Discovery

Directing his flashlight into the cabinet, the urban explorer was visibly stunned. “There’s money inside, oh my God! What?” he exclaimed. Indeed, sealed bags of £20 notes were clearly visible on one of the cabinet shelves, along with a crumpled £10 note and a roll of toilet paper. “You have got to be kidding me – they actually left money in the vault,” he continued, in disbelief. “This is absolutely crazy – I cannot believe it.”

Secured Vault and Active Alarm

The explorer speculated, “Now, I am aware the building has been sold, and the current owner is likely aware it’s in there, but perhaps they are unable to access it.” Concluding his immediate exploration of the vault door, he stated, “That door is definitely locked; I cannot get in.” He then shared footage of electrical wiring surrounding the door, suggesting the presence of an active alarm system in the vicinity.

Shortly after, upon further inspection, he realized, “The power is still on. Well, there you go, I certainly never anticipated discovering money in there.”
