It’s understandable if you initially perceive the Projects interface in Assassin’s Creed Shadows as merely a Battle Pass system. The sequential unveiling of rewards in a linear fashion strongly resembles numerous live service and free-to-play titles like Fortnite or Genshin Impact. Furthermore, given that Assassin’s Creed Shadows incorporates microtransactions, concerns that Projects are designed to encourage in-game spending are valid. Thankfully, while Projects share superficial similarities with Battle Passes, their underlying function diverges somewhat.
Crucially, Projects in Assassin’s Creed Shadows are currently independent of the microtransaction store. Moreover, in contrast to many free-to-play games, Projects do not appear to have any associated time constraints. Progression through Projects involves completing weekly objectives, akin to MMORPG mechanics, but this represents the extent of their live service elements. It is important to note that these aspects are subject to potential modifications, particularly if Ubisoft introduces additional Projects in future updates.
Understanding Projects in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

To access Projects within the game, open the main menu and select the “Animus” prompt located in the top-left corner. Controller users will need to hold down the designated button to avoid inadvertently opening the System menu. Upon entering the Animus menu, your active Projects will be displayed. Here, you can designate a specific Project for focus, as simultaneous progression across multiple Projects is not permitted.

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.
The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.
Regardless of the chosen Project, a comparable reward track will be presented. Potential rewards include Legendary equipment, Gold (distinct from Mon), Data Fragments (narrative lore accessible in the Vault), and Keys (currency utilized within the Exchange menu). Project advancement is linked to your account, meaning initiating a new game save will not reset your Project progress.
Project Progression Mechanics

Advancing through Projects necessitates engaging with Anomalies. These targets are refreshed on a weekly basis, but are designed to be accessible. Anomalies are reset every Thursday. The remaining time for the current week’s Anomalies can be viewed within the “Anomalies” tab of the Animus menu.
Anomalies are initially unavailable and will only appear after sufficient progress within the main storyline. This gating mechanism is relevant given that Anomalies may be situated in higher-level zones, potentially posing a challenge for a solo Naoe early in the game. Therefore, to engage with Projects, ensure you unlock Yasuke and advance through Naoe’s narrative of vengeance.
Once Anomalies are accessible, they will be listed within the Objectives tab of the main menu. Certain Anomalies can also be located via the Legend within the in-game Map screen.
Again, while Project progression is structured around time-gated elements, it should not be a primary concern during standard gameplay. Assassin’s Creed Shadows remains fully enjoyable without concentrated focus on this system, and there is no competitive element associated with reward acquisition. Given the extensive playtime the game offers, prioritize engaging with content that you find enjoyable, and address Projects at your leisure.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PCs.
