Fatal E-bike Collision in Brooklyn Claims Life of Pedestrian
A 49-year-old man has died after being struck by an electric bicycle in Brooklyn on Friday, authorities said.
Greenpoint Incident on Franklin Street
The New York Police Department reported that Luis Cruz was hit by an e-bike while crossing Franklin Street in Greenpoint at approximately 7:45 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Cruz, a resident of nearby Williamsburg, sustained severe head injuries and was transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigation Underway
Authorities stated that the e-bike operator remained at the scene. No arrests were made and no charges have been filed, as officials do not suspect criminal activity. Following the incident, Franklin Street remained closed to traffic for several hours while police conducted their investigation into this e-bike accident in Brooklyn.
