Kate Cassidy Reflects on Liam Payne’s Memory While Sorting Belongings
Kate Cassidy experienced a wave of emotions as she sorted through items that evoked memories of her late boyfriend, Liam Payne.
“I’m currently packing and organizing some things, and I’ve had these boxes in my basement for perhaps three or four months,” Cassidy, 25, shared in a TikTok video posted on Thursday, March 20. “I’ve been really dreading opening these boxes and going through these items because they represent the last remnants I’ve had from the past months and weeks with Liam.”
Emotional TikTok Unveils Sentimental Items
After delaying the task to process her grief, Cassidy decided it was time to confront the emotional undertaking. The influencer explained she had been sorting through items for about an hour and began to display visible emotion.
“I opened this box, and I’m truly trying to compose myself,” she said, fighting back tears. “I discovered this dress at the top of the box. This dress brings me immense peace and solace because the memory Liam and I created while I wore this dress is one I will truly never forget.”

Cassidy retrieved a yellow satin gown she wore when she and Payne attended a wedding together.
“It was the first wedding I had ever been to… we simply had a wonderful time, and the best part is, I discovered these shoes in another box,” she said, holding up a pair of damaged white heels. “And I recalled the next morning, waking up and exclaiming, ‘Oh my goodness, look at my shoes, they are completely ruined. I have no idea what to do with them.'”
Sentimental Shoes Capture Lasting Memory
Cassidy mentioned that her shoes were “nearly new” when she initially wore them for the event, but her time with Payne left them noticeably worn.
“We literally danced all night,” she reflected. “We were dancing the entire night, exploring the venue. I can’t believe I didn’t discard these because now… I am incredibly glad I didn’t. This memory is ingrained in these shoes.”
Liam Payne’s Passing and Cassidy’s Grief
Cassidy and Payne began their relationship in 2022 and remained together until his unexpected passing in October 2024. The former One Direction member passed away at 31 after a fall from a third-story balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Prior to his death, Cassidy and Payne were together in Argentina, but she returned home days before the tragic incident. Cassidy has been openly sharing her experiences coping with grief and her regrets about leaving Argentina.
“Love is inherently optimistic, and you naturally hope everything will resolve itself in the end. Of course, if I had known, if I could foresee the future, I would have never left Argentina,” Cassidy stated in a previous interview. “I simply never imagined this would occur, that events would unfold as they did. It still feels surreal to me that he is no longer here.”
