McNeese State Cowboys Achieve Stunning Upset Victory in March Madness

In a thrilling start to March Madness 2025, McNeese State delivered the tournament’s first major surprise.

The Cowboys, far from subdued, openly celebrated their triumph on the streets of Providence, Rhode Island, ensuring their presence was known.

Following their electrifying 69-67 win over Clemson at the Amica Mutual Pavilion, the McNeese State team paraded through a New England thoroughfare. Leading the spirited procession was team manager and viral internet personality, Amir Khan, whose boombox resonated with Rio Da Yung Og’s anthem, “Shake Back.”

Cowboys’ Coach Will Wade Details Celebratory Walk Through Providence

Head coach Will Wade revealed that the team’s celebratory street parade was not a spontaneous reaction to the upset. He explained it was a pre-game ritual made possible by the hotel’s close proximity to the arena.

“We indeed took Providence by storm earlier today,” Wade told Field of 68 Media Network post-game. “Our lodging being within walking distance allowed Amir to guide us down the street with his music player. Onlookers were bemused, but we embraced the moment, proclaiming, ‘The bayou bandits are here!'”
