Eddie Jordan's heartbreaking final plea to fans before passing away aged 76

Formula One Icon Eddie Jordan Dies at 76

Eddie Jordan, a celebrated figure in Formula One, has died at the age of 76 after a courageous fight with prostate cancer. The former driver, team principal, and businessman passed away on Thursday in South Africa, surrounded by his family, according to a spokesperson.

Brave Battle with Cancer

Jordan had received chemotherapy in an attempt to combat the illness. However, the cancer, described as “aggressive,” ultimately proved fatal. In one of his final media appearances, the motorsport luminary urged fans to prioritize their health and undergo cancer screening.

During an episode of the “Formula For Success” podcast with co-host David Coulthard, he revealed his diagnosis: “Go and get tested, because in life, you’ve got chances. We’ve kind of alluded to it over the shows, way back in March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, and then it spread into the spine and the pelvis, so it was quite aggressive.”

He referenced Sir Chris Hoy, the esteemed British cyclist, adding, “We’ve all heard about our wonderful friend, Sir Chris Hoy, who’s an absolute megastar, and he is coming out and talking about illnesses like what I’ve got, but he’s a far younger man.”

Jordan passionately appealed: “Go and do it. Don’t be stupid. Don’t be shy. It’s not a shy thing. Look after your body, guys.”

Jordan, who had a distinguished career as a driver and team owner, led his own Formula One team from 1991 to 2005. He later became a popular pundit for Channel 4 and the BBC’s Formula One coverage. Following the news of his passing, prominent figures within the Formula One community shared tributes to the beloved Irishman.
