Border czar Tom Homan says he relishes criticism from AOC: ‘Live in her mind rent free’

Former Border Official Dismisses Criticism from Representative Ocasio-Cortez

Tom Homan, former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stated on Wednesday that he views criticism from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as an affirmation of his effectiveness in leading the Trump administration’s efforts to curb illegal immigration.

Homan: Ocasio-Cortez’s Disapproval is a “Badge of Honor”

“It pleases me to know that my work is constantly on her mind,” Homan told Laura Ingraham on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

“This suggests my efforts are impactful and achieving their intended goals,” the former administration official added.

Ocasio-Cortez: Media Appearances Divert Law Enforcement Resources

Earlier this month, Representative Ocasio-Cortez argued that frequent media appearances by officials like Homan detract from essential law enforcement operations aimed at combating illegal activities.

During an interview with YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen, the representative asserted, “Every instance of Tom Homan or Kristi Noem appearing on Fox News represents a diversion of resources from addressing critical issues such as human trafficking, drug enforcement, and investigating genuinely harmful criminal activities.”

Homan disputes this assertion.

Homan Defends Immigration Enforcement Record

“She needs to examine the data,” Homan stated to Ingraham. “We have apprehended more criminal undocumented immigrants in a six-week period than the Biden administration did throughout an entire year.”

Homan claimed, “The border is secure, evidenced by a 96% reduction in illegal immigration. This decrease correlates with positive outcomes, including fewer child fatalities, reduced instances of sex trafficking, and a hindrance to suspected terrorists and illicit drugs entering the country.”

“This administration has done more to ensure the safety and security of New York than she ever has or will,” he contended.

Continued Enforcement Despite Criticism

Homan maintained that the Trump administration remains committed to its current course of action, irrespective of Ocasio-Cortez’s comments.

“My focus is not on popularity,” he added. “If she disapproves of my actions, I consider that a validation of their necessity.”

“It signifies we are pursuing the correct path,” Homan concluded.
