Sean Lowe Fights for Life After Rescue Dog’s Relentless Attacks: “Squirting” Blood

“Bachelor” Alum Sean Lowe Attacked by Rescue Dog, Requiring Medical Attention

Former “Bachelor” star Sean Lowe revealed he was attacked by his rescue dog, Moose, on multiple occasions, resulting in significant injuries.

In a video message shared on Instagram, Lowe, alongside his wife Catherine Giudici, stated, “Our family has been through something pretty traumatic over the weekend.” He added that he decided to share the information publicly to address questions and potential public awareness of the situation.

Lowe, 41, described the initial incident, which occurred last Thursday while he was barbecuing with friends. Smoke from the grill entered the house, triggering the fire alarm.

The First Attack

As Lowe attempted to wave the smoke away from the alarm with a towel, Moose approached and bit the towel, then aggressively nipped his finger. Lowe stated this was unusual behavior for the dog.

“I kind of gave him a, ‘No, Moose,’ and again, the siren’s just blaring. And then [Moose] goes and bites on my feet. … He was biting my feet so hard he actually put holes in my shoes and it was hurting my feet,” he explained.

After giving Moose a “stern” command, Lowe reported that the dog bared its teeth and “attacked” him.

“I don’t mean bite and run off like a lot of dogs do when they’re scared or defensive,” he shared. “I mean [he] attacks me. And I feel him kind of ripping into the flesh of my arm, and at this point, I am doing everything I possibly can just to fend this dog off. … I know I’m bleeding badly. And my friends don’t know what’s going on.”

Subsequent Attacks and Medical Treatment

Despite getting the dog outside, Moose re-entered the house and attacked Lowe a second time. Upon getting the dog out again, Lowe observed a deep cut on his wrist, with “blood squirting probably a couple feet.” He credited his friends with rushing him to the emergency room, where he received stitches on both arms.

The following morning, the couple began discussing a plan of action regarding Moose’s future due to the attacks.

As Lowe’s parents arrived to pick up his children, Moose escaped from the backyard and attacked him a third time.

Lowe recounted the third attack, stating, “Just again, feeling ripping into my flesh. And again, I’m not trying to exaggerate, I certainly don’t want to come across as, like, a victim or anything like that. I’m just telling you how it happened,”

“I’m able to wrestle him to the ground. And this dog is so strong, he’s so explosive, but I’m able to wrestle him to the ground,” he explained.

“I’ve got a hold of his collar, but I know that he’s ripped my arm open, and I just know like, I’m fighting for my life here like, I feel like if this dog gets up, he is going to kill me.”

Lowe held Moose down for ten minutes until law enforcement arrived. He later returned to the emergency room for additional stitches.

Acknowledging the Dog’s History

Despite the traumatic events, Lowe emphasized that the attacks were not Moose’s “fault,” as the rescue dog had experienced “a lot of trauma” before joining the family.

  • The family adopted Moose in January after their children requested a pet.
  • At the time of adoption, Giudici wrote on Instagram, “We are happy to add this 7 year old (we think) rescue boxer into our zoo. We hope he loves us as much as we have already grown to love him.”

“We miss our dog as weird as that sounds. He was a really, really good dog,” he concluded. “And we miss him.”

*Banjo was not his original name, it was the name given to him by the shelter that he didn’t respond to. We tried to call out common boxer names to see if any were ones he responded to and Moose was something we all thought he liked ❤️.”
