Trump to share intel again with Ukraine in dramatic U-turn as Putin issued warning

The US is to restart intelligence-sharing with Kyiv immediately after a “positive” day of peace talks.

US and Ukrainian officials have discussed a truce during talks in Saudi Arabia, according to reports.

It comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio said “the ball is now in Russia’s court” after Ukraine agreed to the US’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.

America will also lift its suspension of military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv immediately, over a week after the measures were imposed in a bid to push Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky towards peace talks with Russia, officials said.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and present him with the ceasefire deal this week, the Associated Press reported.

Mr Rubio, who travelled to Jeddah to meet Ukrainian officials this week, said: “We’re going to tell [Russia that] this is what’s on the table. Ukraine is ready to stop shooting and start talking. And now it’ll be up to them to say yes or no,” he said.

National security adviser Mike Waltz added that it was “very clear” that Ukraine shares Trump’s “determination to end the fighting”.

The talks mark the first meeting between the two nations since Presidents Trump and Zelensky clashed in a fiery Oval Office argument last month.

President Zelensky described the 30-day ceasefire proposed by the US as “positive” and praised the administration for “understanding our arguments and accepting our proposals” following the discussions.

“I want to thank President Trump for the constructiveness of the conversation between our teams,” the Ukrainian leader said in a statement on Telegram.

“We consider [the ceasefire agreement] positive and we are ready to take this step,” he added. “Ukraine is ready for peace … [Russia] must show whether it is ready to stop the war or continue it. The time has come for the full truth.”

The negotiations in Saudi Arabia began against the backdrop of Ukraine’s biggest attack on Russia since the conflict began, with Moscow forces shooting down over 300 Ukrainian drones last night, leaving three people dead and 18 wounded, according to reports.
