‘Nabil Fekir will sign for Liverpool on August 4’ fans get excited over Lyon rumour

That is a Liverpool transfer rumour doing the rounds on Twitter with one account responsible.

Jean Sebastien lists himself as a French Football Journalist for France 24 and claims Fekir will be on his way to Liverpool this summer.

He tweeted: “#Fekir will sign for #LFC on the 4th August.”

And, though the authenticity of the account in question is yet to be determined, it has not stopped Liverpool fans from getting extremely excited.

Liverpool were close to pulling off the signing of the 24-year-old last month, before the player helped France win the World Cup in Russia.

Pictures have since emerged showing Fekir in the club’s colours and posing for an interview with the club’s in-house media channel.

Since then, however, Jurgen Klopp has insisted a deal for the Lyon hotshot is not in the offing.

But that has not stopped wishful Liverpool fans from getting their hopes up about the tweet from Sebastien.

@Nick0037 said: “Don’t give me a heart attack please.”

In response to this, @Zacharyclose2 said: “It the truth.”

@ScottLewis73 then said: “Fingers crossed.”

Others, however, chose to lambast Sebastien and accuse him of making the rumour up.

@NabysHouse tweeted: “Fake fake fake.”

@realgmg67 then said: “Why aint that jean got a blue tick?.”

And another took aim at the Indykaila account that regularly angers football fans, saying: “And which chicken shop do you work at? Same as @indykaila?”

For now, Fekir looks set to stay at Lyon.

And Express Sport understands Liverpool are unlikely to go for Fekir again following their earlier attempts.
