Capcom NEWS: Resident Evil 2 redesign, Zelda DLC for Monster Hunter Switch, more

Resident Evil 2 developer Capcom has given fans a look at one of the game’s redesigned characters.

Claire Redfield has been given a new look ahead of the Resident Evil 2 Remake’s 2019 release date.

Utilising photogrammetry technology for the redesign, Capcom scanned a real-world costume to capture Claire’s new look (below).

“The team had quite a bit of discussion on how to design her new look, and how much of it should retain her appearance from the original PlayStation release of Resident Evil 2,” reads a PlayStation Blog post.

“Ultimately, the team decided on an appearance that would line up with the iconic scene of Claire entering Raccoon City on her motorcycle.

“The team is extremely happy with her final design, and hope you all enjoy it as well!”

Resident Evil 2 Remake has a January 25, 2019 release date for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will feature Legend of Zelda bonus content when it launches this summer.

Nintendo and Capcom have teamed up to bring Link from Legend of Zelda to the game.

Equipped with the Hylian Shield and Master Sword, Link can be seen wearing the Champion’s Tunic from Breath of the Wild. Interestingly, it’s the .

“Join the hunt as Link from The Legend of Zelda series!” reads a Nintendo post.

“Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is coming to Nintendo Switch on August 28 and will feature this all-new collaboration with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild!”

Devil May Cry 5 is targeting 60 frames-per-second gameplay when it launches for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

That’s according to members of the development team, who told Famitsu (via Siliconera) that the aim is to combine photorealistic visuals with 60FPS action.

Much like Resident Evil 2 Remake, it looks like the development team is scanning clothing as well as people, although this isn’t without problems.

Motion cancelling, for example, would look strange with photorealistic graphics, something Capcom describes as “the uncanny valley of action”.

In a bid to strike a balance between realistic visuals and responsive action, the game will now read the motion cancel input, but won’t skip the original animation.

Starring Nero, Devil May Cry 4 takes place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 4.

The game will be directed by Hideaki Itsuno, who promised fans a game with world class visuals.
