Liverpool News: Klopp talks keeping Coutinho from Barcelona – don’t believe everything

The Brazilian handed in a transfer request this summer in a bid to force through a move to the Catalan giants.

Liverpool rebuffed all of Barca’s offers and are now expecting Philippe Coutinho to return to first-team training after international duty with Brazil.

Klopp has remained silent since the close of the transfer window on Thursday in regards to Coutinho, but his name came up when asked about the Brazilian in comparison with Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele.

Klopp’s former team cashed in on Dembele for £135.5million as he completed a move to the Nou Camp.

Liverpool could have pocketed more than that fee but decided against letting Coutinho leave.

And Jurgen Klopp feels it’s hard to compare the two with one club deciding to keep their star man and the other selling.

“We have our situation and Dortmund has another,” Klopp told German media outlet SPORT1.

“Don’t believe everything in the press or that there are offers here and there and that the minute after the offer has been entered, it should already be over.

“We are not like George Orwell where everybody knows everything immediately.

“We have exactly the situation we wanted and no other.

“Dortmund decided the player (Dembele) would leave them, so I cannot compare the two situations.

“We still have a really good player in the squad who can play.”
