FIFA 18 news: FUT Birthday 9 Ultimate Squad, SBCs REVEALED

UPDATE: FIFA 18’s FUT Birthday bonuses have been revealed by Sony and EA Sports.

The FUT Birthday event features a squad made up of some of the best players from previous years.

Featuring fan favourites like Hazard, Bale and Ronaldo, the players will be available in packs as special player items for the entire event.

“These new items open up fresh and inventive ways of FUT squad-building, thanks to position changes and upgraded ratings,” EA explains.

Needless to say, the Birthday event also features new squad building challenges, as well as Prime Icons.

ORIGINAL: FUT birthday celebrations are about to begin in FIFA 18.

FIFA Ultimate Team celebrates its ninth birthday this year, and Sony and EA are getting ready to reveal brand new FUT bonuses.

The FUT birthday plans will be revealed on the PlayStation Blog later today.

“FUT birthday celebrations are coming to FIFA 18!” reads a Sony tweet. “Stay tuned for details on PlayStation Blog tomorrow.”

If it follows the same pattern as regular FIFA reveals, then expect the announcement to go live at 3pm UK time.

This should be followed by a full FUT update at 6pm UK time.

It’s unclear what EA Sports has in store for this year’s birthday celebrations, but a special FUT birthday squad is a given, not to mention SBCs.

Last year’s FUT birthday event featured a limited time squad made up of fan-favourite players.

“Turn back time and celebrate the history of FUT with the FUT Birthday Squad!” reads last year’s announcement.

“Featuring 23 current players who were fan favourites in previous versions, each FUT Birthday Squad member has upgraded ratings reminiscent of their past FUT item and a brand-new item type.”

Last year’s birthday squad included Fernando Torres, Stetphan El Shaarawy and David Luiz.

Fans can also expect a selection of brand new Premium SBCs and Daily Birthday SBCs.

“Introducing brand new SBC Premium Items for the first time in FUT!”b EA explained.

“Three FUT favourites get an extra special Premium SBC version! Released as individual SBCs and available for the duration of the event, these unique items will be upgraded even more than their FUT Birthday Squad version.”

Logging in to the website and companion app also netted players rewards, so fingers crossed EA follows the same pattern this year.
