Five years after they delighted viewers when they got together, recently returned Neighbours alum Chloe Brennan (played by April Rose Pengilly) and Elly Conway (Jodi Gordon) finally get their happy ending when they tie the knot. Their relationship was a slow burn with lots of ups and downs since they first clicked in 2018.
However, their wedding is somewhat of a whirlwind and also marks the end of this stint on the show for both stars. Speaking to Express.co.uk in advance of the episodes, Jodi admitted to getting tearful as they filmed their last scene, which was also the end of their wedding. “I think we mostly did the wedding all in one day and it was our last day there,” they said.
“So the scene you know the last driving away in the wedding car we shot right at the end and those are our driving where the car was the last thing we filmed. “And I was getting really teary-eyed,” she admitted, “because as we got in the car, we looked back and I couldn’t look away. I was getting really upset because we were about to leave for real. Yeah, it was very emotional.”
She added: “What was unfolding with Chloe and Ali, the two guys coming together and then they’ve got the history of their relationship which underpins the circumstances of what was going on when they were both there for that short period of time.
“So I guess it felt realistic in terms of what happened with the proposal. What was happening with Chloe and her health and I think I don’t know, it all felt like you’ve been doing so for too long, but at the same fit.”

It is a minor glitch in anotherwise beautiful ceeremony and proves a satisfying end to their story.
With their happy ending now a done deal April admits that they did want to do the story justice.
“We do feel a lot of responsibility. You know, Jody and I had done the ‘Chelly’ storyline and Chloe first had her crush on Elly years ago.
“We had fans coming to us… Like the storyline absolutely blew up in a way neither of us nor the producers or writers expected.
“We were all blown away by the fan response and how many were saying how they related to the storyline.
“Or, you know, young queer women who just said, ‘Thanks for the representation’…[but] really it is a love story at the end of the day.”
