Baffled road workers have captured the moment they found a man stuck inside a traffic cone.

The road workers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, were removing the cones from an area of roadworks on Sunday (November 29) when they realised one of them was heavier than the others.

When they shone a light on the cone, they spotted the outline of a man inside.

Workers from the Traffic Engineering Company (CET) then tipped the waist-high cone over and peered into the bottom to see a man folded up inside.

Despite the initial shock, the road worker reassured the trapped man: ‘I’ll get you out. Try to pull your foot out.’

The man was apparently so tightly wedged in that every effort to pull him free failed, leading to workers asking if they should call the fire service.

But finally, one worker put the cone right way up, hoisted it up, and the trapped man slipped out onto the tarmac.

He later told the crew he had squeezed himself inside to get out of a rain storm but could not get out when it was over. It’s not known how long he spent stuck in the cone.

A statement from CET said: ‘The agent assisted the person in getting out and offered to call for medical assistance. The rescued man declined medical attention.’
