The crash took place in Centerville in Washington County, located to the south of Pittsburgh, at around 11am local time time (4pm GMT).
The truck, which was hit near the intersection of Route 88 and Maple Glenn Road, was carrying around 200,000 litres of acid when it was hit.
The acid is now leaking onto the road causing 15 homes in the area to be evacuated, CBS reports.
One person has been injured. A hazardous material team has been called to the scene.
