Roger Federer reveals BRAND NEW Nike shoes at Match for Africa

Federer is a long-term partner of Nike with his current sponsorship deal said to be worth £7million a year.

The 36-year-old is regularly seen wearing personalised shoes on and off the tennis court with Nike even commissioning a special black-and-gold pair last month when he regained the world No 1 spot.

But Federer will combine casual trainer with tennis shoe when he takes to the court in San Jose for charity tonight (Tuesday morning, 3am UK time).

The Swiss revealed on his social media channels that he will wear the NikeCourt Vapor RF X Air Max 85, a hybrid of two existing models of Nike trainer.

The upper part of the shoe looks like a regular Air Max 95, one of Nike’s most iconic trainers, while the sole features Federer’s Vapor X.

The shoes will be available for public purchase in the US on March 9, with the release of the “Neon” colour scheme before the “Greedy” design comes out on March 20 and will retail at $180 (£130).

Federer has yet to speak publicly on the shoes but after showing off a custom-made pair in Melbourne, that celebrated his five previous Australian Open titles with a silhouette of the city’s train station.

“I think storytelling is really important in sports – where we come from, what we do and the place we play in,” Federer said in January.

“Actually, why we have the station on there is because we’re not allowed to put the trophy on there. So there you have it.

“The trophy was on there once upon a time, but it’s all good. The tournament’s gotta do what it’s gotta do. It’s all good.

“I like the station better. At Wimbledon we put other stuff on it. We the London Eye on it. Honestly it’s great. People enjoy it.”
