The notorious house flippers have a lot more time together now that Ellen’s talk show has come to an end after 19 seasons.

In April, the comedian opened up about her new home in Montecito, California for the Spring issue of The RIV Magazine, which is the Montecito Journal’s design and architecture publication.

‘This place is all about the spot. The house needed a lot of work, but the spot was always amazing,’ she told the outlet of the 10 acre property.

‘Strangely, this was the very first place Portia and I ever looked up here [in 2007],’ she explained.

The five bedroom, eight bathroom mansion is located down a private drive manned by a security guard and has views to die for- from mountains and lakes to the Pacific Ocean.

Despite the natural beauty of the spot, Ellen was wary about even going to look at the house at first.

‘Truthfully, I didn’t even want to see the place. It’s the longest I’ve ever deliberated on a property. Because the site was incredible but the house, while good bones, basically didn’t have a single surface I could live with and everything clashed with everything. Even the ceilings,’ she explained.

RIV Magazine reported that the couple have bought and sold more than 50 properties over the years, renovated them and then sold them and started on a new house.

‘I don’t really travel a lot. So, house flipping is my version of travel,’ she said.

‘With house flipping, the scenery changes though I stay in the same general area. Only in a new place and from a new perspective.’

But now the couple are calling the Montecito mansion their ‘forever home.’

The star has made huge progress in renovating the new estate after just a few months and revealed how she gets the work done so quickly.

‘Personally I don’t understand people accepting these drawn out schedules to get things done. Once I make the decision to engage I’m off to the races,’ she told the outlet.

‘And in a case like this where we’re only dealing with surface changes, it’s really just a matter of how large a high quality team of painters and fine finishers you can build and deploy quickly.’
