While PUBG Xbox One updates continue, Battlegrounds PC players are about to see a big wipe.
It’s been brewing for a long time and now developers Bluehole Inc. are ready to pull the trigger on widespread bans.
Having performed a gameplay data review of 10 million players and done analysis on tens of millions of data logs, Bluehole say they found 100,000 instances of cheating.
This boils down to a new pattern the development team have discovered which players have been using to compromise the game.
And everyone who has been identified in this wave of cheating will be banned permanently from PUBG.

“These players will be permanently banned in a single wave,” a message from Bluehole confirms. This is an example of additional measures we will be taking on top of the basic detection systems in place.
“We will continue to check the data logs like this even if it means the anti-cheat team has to filter through hundreds of billions of data logs manually. In addition, we are looking into adopting a new solution to detect and ban more cheaters and we have been continuously strengthening our security systems.
“We have also liaised with investigative authorities in some countries to take legal actions against developers and distributors of cheats. We are determined to take strong measures against them going forward.”
It was recently revealed that PUBG on Xbox One is proving very popular, even with the game in its current unfinished state.
According to Microsoft, Battlegrounds on Xbox One already boasts over 3 million players, within the first month of it being available to buy.
The game has seen four updates since its launch as part of the Preview Program, although many more will be needed before it can leave early access.
Most of these patches have looked to improve the quality of the game, as well as remove a list of annoying bugs.
And the latest, which was released earlier this week, was no different, applying new changes to the version on Xbox One.
A message from Bluehole Inc. confirms: “As part of that update, we have decided to include some additional performance and gameplay improvements, as well as a new controller option.
“We want to thank our community for the continued feedback and look forward to the discussion that the changes below bring.”
One of the most notable changes that players will find straight away is that Pistols have been removed from Y button’s weapon rotation and grouped with the melee weapon.
However, other optimisation changes have also been made to the game.
Bluehole have also identified two other changes that are being worked on for a future build of the game.
These Battlegrounds bug fixes include:
- Dropping objects causes the player to switch weapons.
- User is unable to switch grenade types when tapping right on the D-Pad.
A new PUBG PS4 release date update was recently revealed, giving fans a better idea on just how long they might be left waiting for a launch.
Right now, the PC and the Xbox One is the only place to play Battlegrounds – but that could all change later this year.
Chang Han Kim, the CEO of PUBG developer PUBG Corp, gave a boost to PS4 and Nintendo Switch fans hoping for a Battlegrounds release.
He said that he hopes PUBG will one day be available on “every platform”.
Speaking to InvenGlobal, he said: “As it’s going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we’d like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now.
“If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform.”
However, as noted above, it appears PUBG won’t be arriving on PS4, or any other new platform, until the Xbox One version has reached an almost complete stage.
