Star Wars Han Solo movie: Where’s the trailer? Fans concerned as wait continues

Solo: A Star Wars Story, as it is officially called, lands in cinemas at the tail end of May after a long and dramatic production process that involved a last-minute change of director and a huge amount of reshoots.

Despite all the problems, however, LucasFilm never shifted the original release date of May 25.

So now that Episode 8: The Last Jedi is out in the open and beginning to slow down at the box office, why have we still not seen anything of Solo – and is there anything to worry about?

Fan speculation online is, quite understandably, growing concerned and restless. With Rogue One (2016), the first teaser came out eight months before release, with a full trailer four months in advance.

In a Reddit discussion launched by user TheBlueDinosaur, the OP said: “We don’t even have a photo of Alden as Han that wasn’t leaked.

“I feel like we definitely should have had a trailer by now. I expect it to drop any day soon, but every day that passes just gets stranger and stranger that we don’t have a trailer.

“I sincerely think that Disney is scared to release anything, knowing that fans will pick it apart inside and out.”

Indeed, after The Last Jedi split fans almost exactly down the middle, it would be understandable if LucasFilm were worried about how Solo will be received.

“The only explanation is they are reworking the trailer because of TLJ backlash. The trailer could destroy the film right now,” another user posted.

However someone else pointed to the long, long wait for The Last Jedi’s full trailer – which in the end came out only two months before the movie itself.

“Have we learned nothing from the TLJ trailer wait that we all went through,” SarlaccDigest said. “It’s no big deal, it will happen.

“Then when it does, the floodgates will open, we’ll get all sorts of info. To the point where people will say ‘stop showing the whole movie’.”

Rumours suggest the teaser could arrive as soon as tomorrow, and with it the first official look at Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo himself.

He is joined in the cast by the likes of Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emelia Clarke and Paul Bethany.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is out on May 25.
