Philippe Coutinho to train with Barcelona on MONDAY with Barcelona deal ‘almost done’

Stunning reports coming from Spanish newspaper AS say that while there is caution at Barcelona, they believe ‘the work is done’.

The deal is expected to cost around £142million (€160m), making the attacking midfielder the third most expensive player in history.

Philippe Coutinho is expected to fly out to Spain this evening and could watch his new team-mates against Levante tomorrow.

AS claim Barcelona want Coutinho available for training on Monday and then for their Copa del Rey clash with Celta Vigo and the following league clash with Real Sociedad.

The Reds have been attempting to persuade Coutinho to stay at Anfield but the 25-year-old has resisted their offers to push through the deal.

Barcelona have been hopeful of completing the deal imminently after Liverpool dropped their stance that he was no longer for sale.

And it now appears as though the move is nearing a conclusion.

Reports in Spain claim Coutinho is so desperate to complete a move to the Nou Camp this month that he is willing to pay some of the transfer fee.

And La Liga expert Guillem Balague has backed up those claims.

Balague wrote on Twitter: “On Coutinho – Player hasn’t travelled to Dubai with squad.

“He wants it done ASAP. Willing to put some money towards fee. The figure should be close to €160M.

“No agreement yet between clubs but he would like it all done by next week. FCB would like to make announcement “very soon”.

“Liverpool is trying all they can to convince him to stay till the end of the season once deal with Barcelona has been agreed.

“And they are not actively looking for a replacement after trying to get Keita earlier.”
