What is the Slender Man release date?
Slender Man the movie will bring the internet myth to life on cinema screens across the UK on May 18, 2018.
Production on the horror film reportedly began in 2016 when Screen Gems, a subdivision of Sony Pictures, negotiated a deal with Mythology and two other studios, Madhouse Entertainment and It Is No Dream Entertainment.
Director Sylvain White, known for his work on Stomp the Yard and and The Losers, then jumped onboard to direct the film in 2017.
Principal photography reportedly begun in June 2017, with the majority of the film shot on location in Boston, Massachusetts, before wrapping up in July.
What is Slender Man about?
The Screen Gems horror film is inspired by the creepy internet phenomenon Slender Man – a popular video game character and hoax monster created in 2009.

The film’s plot summary simply teases: “Following recent disappearances, a group of girls venture into the cause of these incidents.”
If the first Slender Man trailer released on January 3, is anything to go by, then the movie promises to be full of foggy forests, violent gore and creepy spooks.
Slender Man was created on June 10, 2009 on thread in the Something Awful internet forum, for a Photoshop contest, which saw creator Eric Knudsen combine a picture of tall figure in a dark suit with a photo of two children.
The figure has since grown in popularity to become an internet myth of sorts, with spinoff video games and works of fan-fiction.
Who are the cast of Slender Man?
Slender Man stars 18-year-old Joey King who fans will recognise from her roles on hit TV shows Fargo and The Flash.
The young actress is joined by Julia Goldani Telles, from The Affair, and Kevin Chapman, from Person of Interest.
The titular monster himself is portrayed in the flashed by Javier Botet who previously transformed into the classic Xenomorph alien in Alien: Covenant and the blockbuster hit IT.
Other cast members include Annalise Basso, Jaz Sinclair and Layla Caulfield.
Slender Man is out in UK cinemas on May 18, 2018.
