Donald Trump had got inside Kim Jong-un’s head as World War 3 tensions grow, the Chairman of American Defense International, Van Hipp, has claimed.
Speaking to Fox Business, Hipp said that President Trump’s tweets have got inside Kim Jong-un’s head.
He said: “2018’s going to be a doozy. What this shows is that this President has gotten into Kim Jong-un’s head.
“Kim Jong-un can’t figure out President Trump.”
President Trump threatened North Korea with his “much bigger and more powerful” nuclear button following menacing undertones in Kim Jong-un’s speech on New Year’s Day.
Mr Trump wrote on Twitter: “North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the ‘Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.’
“Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”
Hipp pointed out the contrasting views of the sectretive state’s leader, who has said his nuclear button on his desk but has also reopened communications with South Korea.
He said: “I was taking my older son out last night, before we could get in the car he was showing me the President’s tweet. He has gotten in Kim Jong-un’s head.
“Kim Jong-un is talking about his nuclear button and on the other he is reopening today that border communications channel so I think this is good.”
North Korea has been fanning fears of World War 3 by refusing to heed calls for denuclearisation – with leader Kim engaging President Trump in an escalating war of words.
But Kim appeared to offer an olive branch to neighbouring South Korea – a close US ally – by suggesting North Korea could use the 2018 Winter Olympics to organise diplomatic talks with Seoul to defuse tensions with the international community.
