Duchess of Cambridge, Kate: THIS is the hidden meaning behind her poppy print dress

The Duchess Kate Middleton, 35, braved the rainy London weather yesterday to visit the Princess Diana memorial garden at Kensington Palace.

She wore a midi-length green Prada dress with a pussybow which tied at the neck for the occasion

The frock, which is currently retailing on Matchesfashion.com for £1,420, was covered in a poppy field design with blades of grass blowing in the wind and hundreds of red poppies.

While the Duchess looked stunning in her outfit choice, fashion experts have now unearthed the hidden meaning behind the frock.

Her most recent outfit could be seen as a tribute to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Poppies, like the ones on Kate’s silk crepe dress are often used as a symbol of remembrance for people who have served in the military and died in war.

But they are also a symbol of peace and death.

The flower seems appropriate for Kate visiting the White Garden memorial for Princess Diana to make the 20th anniversary of her death.

The Duchess visited the White Garden with husband Prince William and Prince Harry, 32, ahead of the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death which is today.

The garden at Diana’s former home is filled with white flowers and foliage and was inspired by memories of her life, style and image, such as her white “Elvis” Catherine Walker dress.

It features white roses, scented narcissi and a carpet of forget-me-nots around the existing Sunken Garden, of which the Princess was particularly fond.

The royal brothers and Kate were met by head gardener Sean Harkin and were shown some of Diana’s favourite flowers.
