Warning: spoilers for Episode 8 of the Star Wars saga ahead.
In the closing moments of Star Wars, Luke was seen effectively dying – or, much like Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi before him, passing to another level of Jedi existence.
However, a claim started circulating on Twitter last week suggesting that Hamill had no idea that this was the path laid out for him by LucasFilm and Rian Johnson – and that it was added in post-production, as a way of Disney getting revenge on his apparent “bad press”.
Hamill’s reaction to the rumour certainly didn’t hold back.
An account called The Anon Journal said: “BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: @HamillHimself did not know Luke Skywalker’s fate until he saw the premiere.

When someone brought it to Hamill’s attention, he responded: “Amazing! Every word in that tweet is WRONG. No wonder they have ANON in their title. I’d want to remain anonymous if I were spewing complete BS, too.
“#Disney angered? Final scene a surprise to me? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!! #WhattaLoadaSITH.”
Interviews in which Hamill appeared unhappy with Luke’s ending have received much attention in recent weeks, but the star recently backtracked on his comments.
“I regret voicing my doubts & insecurities in public,” he tweeted. “Creative differences are a common element of any project but usually remain private.
“All I wanted was to make good movie. I got more than that- @rianjohnson made an all-time GREAT one! #HumbledHamill.”
