BREAKING: Iran rocked by MASSIVE 6.3 magnitude earthquake ‘near city with 800,000 people’

The aftershock measured 5.0 magnitude according to the US Geological Survey (USGS) which struck around 15 minutes later.

The quakes struck near Kerman which has a population of around 800,000.

No reports have emerged about casualties or damaged so far.

It follows a deadly quake in the region last month.

The Iran-Iraq border was devastated by a 7.3 magnitude earthquake on November 12 which killed 540 people and injured at least 8,000 others.

According to the US Geological Survey, up to 70.4million people would have felt the earthquake, including 239,000 who may have experienced “very strong” to “severe” shaking.

Social media users posted images and videos of people coming out into the streets cities across the Gulf region just moments after the quake struck.

Earthquakes are frequent in the region – Iran is located on a major fault line and has suffered several devastating quakes in recent years.

A 6.6 magnitude quake struck in 2003, which flattened the southeastern city of Bam and killed more than 25,000 people.
