It should come as no surprise that this particular character does not make an appearance.
Many fans have long felt that the Marvel movies have not done justice to this popular comicbook hero and sidelined them unfairly.
Others may feel that what little there has been is already more than enough of a resolutely dull and uncharismatic figure. Whether that is the fault of the character or the Hollywood star’s performance is open to debate.
Either way, in a trailer bursting at the seams with every existing MCU player, the absence of just one feels like a painful snub.

Advance concept art has shown him in a uniform which has many fans convinced this is the start of the character’s infamous transformation into Ronin.
Unfortunately for that to happen, another terrible thing must take place. There really won’t be a dry eye for Hawkeye if what we think is about to happen is the reason he is off-screen.

Comicbook fans will know that Hawketye becomes the merciless and brutal warrior Ronin after his whole family is slaughtered. His idylic home life was introduced in a rather dreary sequence in Age of Ultron, so the scene has been set.
Thanos is not responsible for the deaths in the source material but Marvel have already shown they are willing to adapt source plotlines to meet the new cinematic vision.
Perhaps Hawkeye actually is with Iron Man or Captain America, but it seems most likely he has gone to protect his family, but may be too late…
