Dumped NAZI chemical weapons ’cause green VORTEX OF DEATH’ in Baltic Sea

According to a new documentary, over 65,000 tonnes of highly dangerous toxins from Hitler’s chemical weapons programme have been dumped in the sea.

Marine biologists have now discovered traces of mustard gas on the sea floor with a spooky green glow caused by corrosion.

And experts warn the build up of pollutants could result in an “environmental catastrophe”.

The claims are revealed in What on Earth, a series airing on the Science Channel, the Daily Mirror reported.

Author and historian Guy Walters said the chemicals ended up there after being seized by British and Russian soldiers before being dumped.

He said: “This is an enormous amount of chemicals, and it is going to come out at some point.

“It’s a noxious, Nazi cloud of poison.”

It is thought the chemicals have started leaking so much because the shells around them are beginning to corrode in the water, contributing to the strange green colour.

The pollution in the sea is so bad it has even been referred to as the “chamber pot of Europe”.

Fishermen have even caught mustard-gas shells instead of fish by mistake off the Polish coast.

There is also evidence of saline with more genetic defects in areas where the weapons were dumped.

And there is concern Soviet troops did not always follow their designated dumping zones, simply ditching the weapons wherever they could.

That means the toxins could be spilling out very close to densely-populated areas.

Back when the dumping took place, the consequences were largely unknown.

Even now, even experts are not completely certain what affect the huge amount of chemicals could have.

And some scientists believe the green “vortex” has actually been caused by a vast quantity of algae that is suffocating everything in its path.
