Liverpool transfer news: Barcelona confident of signing Philippe Coutinho before deadline

Barca remain in the hunt for Coutinho despite completing the signing of Ousmane Dembele.

And AS claim that Barcelona are confident they can pull it off before Thursday.

But they are said to be resigned to paying more than they did for Dembele.

The Dembele deal cost £138m and Barca have already seen three bids for Coutinho rejected with the fourth of around the same value being mooted.

But they are believed to have acknowledged that Coutinho will cost even more and could set them back £147.9m (€160m).

Barcelona are desperate to add to their squad after the departure of Neymar and Dembele will be unveiled today after a deal was done on Friday.

But Coutinho’s move could still be on after he requested a transfer following the second rejected bid.

And Liverpool have this morning made a move for Thomas Lemar and have submitted an offer for £66m which would be a new club record.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to do last minute deals after signing three players this summer with Mohamed Salah looking a shrewd signing at £38m and bringing Andrew Robertson and Dominic Solanke in.

But the move for Lemar would suggest Coutinho could be leaving the club before Thursday’s deadline.

Liverpool have started the season well with Salah and Sadio Mane impressing in yesterday’s 4-0 win over Arsenal.
