6: Low-key beginning from Spurs, who are easing themselves into this one. Plenty of passing around the midfield, but zero tempo.

3: Useful start from the visitors. Wilfried Zaha, who we knew would be influential today, sends a delightful cross into the area but Sakho couldn’t quite reach it.

Having seen it again, Gazzaniga didn’t get near the ball and caught the defender around the head. Not a convincing start from the debutant GK, and might have been a penalty.

11:40: Today’s just an insane day for football lovers.

11:30: Despite Mauricio Pochettino saying that Dele Alli’s hamstring injury was minor, he’s been ruled out of the England squad for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

The FA tweeted: “Squad update: the Three Lions will be without Dele Alli for this month’s games. Get well soon, Dele!”

ROY FANCIES HIS CHANCES

11:25: The odds might be stacked against them, but doesn’t seem to have dampened Roy Hodgson’s spirits.

The Eagles manager is adamant his side can do the business against Spurs this afternoon, despite having the division’s worst defensive record.

“My players won’t go onto that field thinking they are too good for us to play against. We will go thinking we are going to beat these,” Hodgson said.

“If players allow themselves to listen to all the noise on social media and from TV pundits they will be affected. But the bottom line is that when we cross that line there is nothing to stop our players doing all the things they’re capable of.”

Mamadou Sakho and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are back in defence with James Tomkins and Patrick van Aanholt missing out.

Captain Hugo Lloris is sidelined with a knee injury with former Southampton keeper Paulo Gazzaniga making his full debut.

Dele Alli is reported to have sustained a hamstring injury on Wednesday, and has not been included in the matchday squad.

Elsewhere Danny Rose, Serge Aurier, Moussa Sissoko and Son are included in the starting XI with Kieran Trippier, Ben Davies and Mousa Dembele dropping to the bench.

TOTTENHAM vs CRYSTAL PALACE – PREVIEW

Tottenham will be without Hugo Lloris and Toby Alderweireld after they sustained respective groin and hamstring injuries against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Harry Kane came through the match unscathed after shaking off his own hamstring problem. Erik Lamela (hips) is not yet ready to return while Victor Wanyama also remains out with a knee injury.

Mamadou Sakho and James McArthur will both be in contention for Crystal Palace. Defender Sakho and midfielder McArthur both returned to training following their respective calf and ankle injuries.

Patrick Van Aanholt is a doubt because of a hamstring injury. Chung Yong Lee (hamstring) has been ruled out and the game will come too soon for striker Christian Benteke (knee).
