Nintendo Switch games list SHOCK as new reveal points to more PS4 and Xbox One projects

A lot of new Nintendo Switch games news has been released this week, concerning the console’s sales and impact.

It has now been confirmed that the Switch has sold over 7 million units and looks set to surpass the Wii U’s lifetime total.

That’s a massive boost for a company who was being touted as falling out the major hardware stakes.

However, other Nintendo Switch sales data suggests that the Japanese games giant is going to need to take a harder look at the successful mature content, currently available on the PS4 and Xbox One.

While Super Mario Odyssey shows how Nintendo can create family-friendly content for everyone to enjoy, their market is a little different.

That’s because Nintendo have revealed that 43% of Switch buyers are between 25-34 years old, while 17% are 25-44 years old.

Comparing that to the 20% of all buyers who are 16-24 years old, it makes sense that more mature content will be needed at some point.

And it does appear that steps are being taken in this direction.

According to new reports, Nintendo are encouraging publishers who handle mature IPs to release games on the Switch.

It’s easy to see how this would help to shed the family-friendly association a little, while also providing more content that fits with their audience.

There are already some big examples of this, with Bethesda’s DOOM title arriving soon for the console.

Wolfenstein 2 is also making the leap in 2018, while other developers have spoken more on the subject of porting games over.

Injustice 2 was recently discussed as a possible candidate for this, although no official confirmation has been provided on this ever happening.

And even if the process of bringing more mature content to the Switch turns out to be a slow one, there’s still top titles performing for the console.

Other data provided in Nintendo’s six month briefing for the fiscal year is that the Super Mario Odyssey game sales have been impressive.

“While about 7 million units of Nintendo Switch hardware have been delivered into the hands of our consumers around the world, we estimate that the global sellthrough of Super Mario Odyssey has already exceeded 2 million units in just its first 3 days,” the report explains.

“The holiday sales season will soon go into full swing, and we plan to make more Nintendo Switch systems available in the market.”

That’s a lot of Cappys flying around out there.
