‘Spain wants to teach us a LESSON!’ Catalonia pro-separatist warns region will FIGHT BACK

Adria Alsina said both sides were under pressure to deliver a future path for , with expected to invoke Article 155 of the Spanish constitution and impose direct rule.

Speaking to BBC News, Mr Alsina said Spanish and Catalonia politicians, including the region’s leader would have had “panic attacks” as they try to find a solution.

He said: “Both Puigdemont and all the parties are under an enormous amount of pressure here and I think it’s only logical that there might have been some panic attacks.

“Some people, both in parliament and outside parliament, might have gone through this sort of panic attack.”

“What we expect is tomorrow, eventually, the Article 155 will be upheld by the senate, before a declaration of independence.

“I think the Spanish government wants to somehow teach pro-independence Catalans a lesson.

“They’ve made it very clear that they are not waiting for a negotiation, they are not waiting for any moves whatsoever from Carles Puigdemont anymore.

“They are going to apply it and I expect that after that, they’ll probably be a vote on a declaration of independence here in parliament as well.”

Catalonia vice-president Oriol Junqueras has given the biggest indication yet that Catalonia is poised to formally declare independence in defiance of Spain who is set to impose strict control of the north east region by invoking Article 155 of the Spanish constitution.

The left-wing (Esquerra) politician, 48, told the Associated Press the Spanish government, led by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy

Mr Junqueras said he was speaking as leader of his party, Republican Catalan Left, not as a member of the regional government.
