Should Gotham and the rest of the world brace itself for another round of Sadfleck memes?
The solo Batman movie has stalled so many times that Alfred should probably check the spark plugs and now the main villain seems to be jumping ship.
A new Hollywood report is claiming that a separate Deathstroke movie has been greenlit.
Rising director Gareth Evans has been tipped for the job of bringing the DC assassin to the big screen.
Industry site The Wrap said: “The Raid helmer Gareth Evans is in early discussions to write and direct DC Comics Assassin Deathstroke film.
“True Blood and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello is attached to star. Deathstroke was previously attached to be the antagonist on the solo The Batman film when Ben Affleck was still attached to direct.”
This clearly makes it sound like Deathstroke is no longer attached at all to the Batman movie.
Manganiello himself sounded the warnings way back in March.
On March 8 Manganiello played down reports that the Batman movie was in crisis and said: “It’s funny how the media likes to run with, ‘Oh there’s trouble!’ ‘Oh, the script needs to be revised!’ They’re drama queens.
“There’s a creative process, and everyone on the cast and crew wants to make this the best movie possible. So that’s what we’re gonna do. When we start shooting it, we’ll start shooting it. It will be soon, I can say that.”
Just two weeks later he seemd to reverse his postion…
Manganiello spoke to Pittsburgh Today Live on air and was asked if it was true he would be appearing in The Batman as Deathstroke.
The actor threw his hands in the air and said: “Umm. Maybe. We’ll see.”
