England are set to run two completely different squads simultaneously next month with three one-day internationals against Ireland wedged in between the Test series versus West Indies and Pakistan.
Eoin Morgan’s world champion 50-over team will take on the country of his birth at the Ageas Bowl on July 30, August 1 and August 4, the final of the three fixtures just 24 hours before the first Test between England and Pakistan begins at Emirates Old Trafford.

Andy Balbirnie’s side’s last action came in March when they were defeated 2-0 by Afghanistan in a Twenty20 series in India.
Some of the Irish squad could then stay on in England to feature in the Twenty20 Blast – which is to be predominantly played in September, with finals day at Edgbaston set for the 26th of the month – as the majority of counties have scrubbed or postponed contracts with overseas players.
Paul Stirling has already been signed as an overseas player by Northamptonshire but Balbirnie, Kevin O’Brien and rising star Gareth Delany – a big-hitting, leg-spinning all-rounder – are all sure to appeal as cheap alternatives.
