Over on NCIS: Los Angeles, the franchise saw even more renewed hype with the return of Mac (Catherine Bell) and Harm (David James Elliott) from the series’ original 1990s law drama, JAG.
Their reintroduction sparked further rumours of an additional spin-off, this time centred around the city of San Diego, California.
Another fan joked: “Ironic, because I keep thinking how much I would like to see an episode with everybody having to work from home just to see Gibbs trying to do a Zoom conference.”
Despite some television series adapting to the conference call format during the pandemic, fans have been assured the action-heavy NCIS franchise won’t be among them.
NCIS season 18 is expected to return to CBS later in 2020.
