Dragon Age fans will be sorry to hear that creative director Mike Laidlaw has left BioWare.
After 14 years with the company, Laidlaw has decided to move on.
“It’s with a mix of emotions that I’m announcing my time at BioWare has ended,” he told fans.
“After 14 years and a chance to work on Jade Empire, Mass Effect and all things Dragon Age it’s time for me to move on.”
But it doesn’t necessarily spell the end of the Dragon Age series, which Laidlaw says is in good hands.

“It’s been an honour to be a part of the Dragon Age team, and I have every confidence that the world we’ve created together is in good hands and I’m excited for the road ahead.”
As for his immediate plans, the Dragon Age creative director said he wants to reconnect with some amazing games.
“For the near future, I plan to spend my time reconnecting with all the amazing games and worlds that my peers have created, and I look forwards to sharing those experiences with you all on Twitch and Twitter,” he added.
Laidlaw had previously hinted at new Dragon Age games, telling fans that there is no planned ending for the franchise.
“There is no planned ending for DA,” he told one follower. There is an evolving plan that tends to look 2 games ahead or so.
“Thus, I could tell you what -could- be in a theoretical game 5, if there were a theoretical game 4 happening.”
However, Laidlaw also said that it’s unwise to stick to such a rigid plan.
He continued: “But I strongly believe that if you try to hold to a rigid plan that is a decade old by the time you reach the end, you are wasting ops.”
Hopefully we’ll see a new Dragon Age game in the future.
